Discover the 9th arrondissement of Paris, a lively and bustling district in the heart of the City of Light

The 9th arrondissement enjoys a pleasant neighbourhood life while being located in the very centre of Paris. This district has many surprises in store for you and will suit all types of travellers.

For your gourmet stays

The 9th arrondissement of Paris is full of trendy restaurants of all kinds, to be discovered for lunch or dinner as a couple, with friends or with the family. A good way to get together and share a good time with your relatives. Take a stroll through the small streets of the district to discover the culinary treasures hidden from the tourists.

For art and culture lovers

The Joe M Hotel is located in the immediate proximity of the capital's major tourist attractions.

You can for example visit the majestic Opera Garnier, an emblematic monument of Paris, a figure of the Second Empire and built during the great Haussmannian works.

Numerous historical monuments also enhance the district (Eglise de la Sainte Trinité, Eglise Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, Grande Synagogue de Paris). You can also stroll through the Montmartre district and visit the famous Sacré-Coeur Basilica, which is open every day until 10.30pm. It is here, at the top of the dome, that you will find one of the most beautiful views of the capital.

If you like art, we recommend a visit to the Gustave Moreau Museum, housed in the family home of the painter of the same name and featuring more than 14,000 artworks by the artist. Discover also the famous Grévin Museum, a must for a family stay in Paris, a few steps away from the Joe M Hotel.

If you like museums, you can also discover many unusual museums such as the Chocolate Museum, the Freemasonry Museum, the Phono Museum, the Perfume Museum, or the Romantic Life Museum.

For shopping lovers

Our hotel is located less than 5 minutes walk from the Grands Boulevards and the famous department stores of Paris such as Galeries Lafayette and Printemps Haussmann. You will be able to do your shopping while enjoying the architecture of these exceptional buildings.

For those who prefer to shop in small boutiques, you can stroll through the small streets connecting the boulevards and discover many small fashion boutiques suitable for all budgets.

For your relaxing walks

Take a stroll down rue des Martyrs, a lively shopping street, well known in the 9th arrondissement. It is here that the inhabitants of the district do their shopping or simply take a stroll.

A few steps away from the Palais Garnier, you can discover the Place Edouard VII, a small haven of peace that is definitely worth a visit.

Less famous in Paris is the district of La Nouvelle-Athènes. This part of the 9th arrondissement experienced a considerable boom during the 19th century as it was the home of the intellectual elite of Paris. Writers, actors, musicians and painters built sumptuous private mansions here, which still give the district its charm today. It is also here that the artistic movement of Romanticism emerged, which you can discover in the Musée de la Vie Romantique.

Take a moment to relax at Place Saint-Georges, a mythical square in the 9th arrondissement, in the heart of New Athens, in the middle of which stands the Monument de Gavarnie.

And if you miss nature too much, we advise you to go to the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, the second largest park in Paris, which has a great diversity of trees as well as cliffs, waterfalls, streams and lakes. A real mountain landscape in the middle of the city.

For your evening outings

Treat yourself to a show at the Folies Bergères, the legendary Paris theatre that has inspired the greatest artists. You can discover the best concerts, musicals and one-man shows less than 200 metres from the hotel.

Discover also the exceptional program of the Olympia, a mythical theatre that has welcomed the most famous international stars. You will also be able to enjoy comedy shows.

While strolling along the Grands Boulevard, you will find a large number of bars, restaurants, theatres and most of the Parisian comedy clubs.

You can also go for a walk in the Pigalle district where you will find many bars, cabarets and showrooms to entertain you.

Suggestions for original walks and activities

Many buildings in Paris are crossed by so-called "passages". You will be able to discover some, not far from the Hotel Joe M. You will be able to find shops, tea rooms or restaurants, in an original architectural setting. We advise you to try the Jouffroy passage, the Vivienne passage, the Panorama passage or the Verdeau passage.

You can also discover the Pigalle Basket Court, a colourful and unusual basketball court, a must for a nice Instagram photo. This initiative is the result of a collaboration between Nike, the Pigalle Basketball brand and the creative studio III-Studio.

Finally, we suggest you go for a walk in the cité du Midi, an authentic and unusual alleyway lined with artists' studios and entirely decorated with flowers. A real haven of peace.
